About the Foundation
The St Stephen's Music and Cultural Foundation is a Charitable Fund and Deductible Gift Recipient established to promote music and culture in Sydney.
The Foundation is administered by a small committee of volunteers.
We have a particular commitment to assisting young musicians and singers develop their expertise and achieve their artistic potential. We provide a number of scholarships to exceptional young vocal and organ students to enable them to further their studies and professional development.
In addition to scholarships, the Foundation commissions new musical works by emerging composers and arranges for public performances of this music.
The Foundation ensures that the public is able to experience exceptional performances of classical and operatic music in Sydney via the Friday Music Concert Series.
Jazz Behind the Green Door commenced in 2018, enabling the promotion and advancement of jazz music and technique in Sydney.
From time to time, the Foundation has assisted with the purchase of musical instruments. This has included the acquisition of a grand piano and harpsichord for public performances. The Foundation also enables the maintenance and refurbishment of the pipe organ at St Stephen's Uniting Church, which is regarded as one of the finest instruments in Sydney.
